2 weeks old

We entered in the 2nd week with work demanding my attention. So I went to the office for a few hours on Tuesday (Sept 30th) and 1/2 of a day on Wednesday (Oct 1st). When you own a festival and help run a family business you really don't have downtime. On Tuesday night, when I was trying to respond to emails about Pride of Texas, my laptop decided to crash. Well really the harddrive didn't crash but the monitor was having problems. I realized at that point that if it did crash I would be in major trouble. I have EVERYTHING about the festival stored on my laptop. So Tyler decided that it was time to invest in a new laptop for me. The next day we went and found a Compaq that I love. My original laptop was a Compaq and it lasted for 10 years. That is impressive to me so I decided to go with another one. That night I transfered all of my files and programs over to the new laptop and then began the process of reinstalling programs that I had downloaded over the past 10 years. I had no idea how many interesting programs I had found that helped with Graphics, Website building, DVD burning, and Business. I'm still trying to install some of the programs but it's getting better.

Sunday (Oct 5th) Dianna and Zane arrived for the week. I was so excited to see them! She looks fantastic! Zane went to Nana and Papa's while Dianna visited Elizabeth. She is so great with babies! Elizabeth really liked her!! I was listening to some of the songs she knows and am quite impressed. I'm hoping to talk her into recording them on a CD so I can learn them and sing them to Elizabeth. Dianna came over on Monday and spent all day here. She really helped me take care of everything and I was able to finish projects that I had on my To Do list. Then she made a wonderful dinner on Tuesday night and gave me a recipe for a really rich pie. It was all so good!! Nathan Lau joined us for dinner and brought two fantastic bottles of wine. It was so good to see him.

On Tuesday Elizabeth woke up with crust forming over her right eye. I had no idea what was going on but I remembered this same thing happening to Hank. I took a warm wash cloth and wiped her eye. The gunk came off and she was able to open her eye. I thought it was just heavy sleep but then it formed again. So I go on the internet to hopefully find out what it could be. I learned at this stage Elizabeth's eyes are beginning to focus and her tear ducts are beginning to work. This gunk was probably from a clogged tear duct. So I kept wiping it off all day to keep it clear. My Wednesday morning it was all gone and there were actually a few tears. So I guess it was a clogged tear duct.

The past Wednesday was my official first day back at work. I was ready to go back and looking forward to seeing if I could do it. I discovered that it takes me a total 3 hours to do the following: get myself ready, get Elizabeth ready, nurse Elizabeth, make up the bed, eat breakfast, pump if Elizabeth isn't ready to nurse, feed the dogs, and clean up the house. It used to take me one hour total. So I was late to work but it didn't really matter. That night I was so tired and Tyler came up with a plan. When I get home from work Elizabeth and I take a nap for 3 - 4 hours. Tyler makes dinner and takes care of Elizabeth if she wakes up. He gives her a bottle when she is hungry. Then I nurse her around 10:30 - 11pm and she hopefully sleeps till 5:30 am. Then I'm up with her from then on and take her to work. This has worked great for the past 2 days. Let's see how it works next week.
I've been trying to take more pictures but it is the same look everytime. Elizabeth is so good. She sleeps, eats, and poops. She has begun to be more awake over the past few days and I've gotten a few pictures. I'll upload those next post.

I'm so glad to hear that everything is going so well! She just keeps getting cuter. We received our announcement, and the kids are all fascinated with their newest cousin!;)
